I consider Japanese dogs to be some of the cutest dogs in the world, with their curled tails and almost pudgy look to them. They are also generally very loyal dogs, which has led to various stories being told about them (one of them being Hachiko, the Akita dog that met its owner from the station every day, even after he died).
Apparently there are 6 native Japanese breeds, which are all types of spitz (I think I've got this right, I had to do a bit of research first!): Kai, Hokkaido-inu, Kishu-inu, Shikoku, Akita, Shiba-inu. The Shiba-inu is the only one that isn't named after an area of Japan. (If you live on the Internet, you may recognize the Shiba-inu as being the dog that is Doge.) They all share a very similar look, although they have a few differences. But there's just something about them that I find completely adorable.
Are there any fellow Japanese dog enthusiasts out there? (Or just anyone who likes cute things?)
