This is something I recently discovered after my last visit in Japan this February. And I have already tried and tested this for you guys.
Last October 1, 2019. Consumption tax rate in Japan was increased from 8 - 10 percent. Since they don't want to have a spending drop-off due to the change they decided to give 2-5% tax rebates on bigger convenient stores such as lawson, seven-eleven etc for cashless transactions until June 2020!
