Dont blow your nose into a hankerchief in Japan

Did you know in Japan that its considered rude to blow your nose into a hankerchief, they prefer to sniff, but that continual sniffing when you are sitting next to somebody can sure annoy the crap out of you, it does me

I was shocked with your title, is it common thing blowing nose with a hanker chief in western country? I never saw such a people in Japan. So, you are right, you shouldn`t do in Japan.
Everyone will be shocked and disgusted with this action.

It was in winter, I was travelling in train. I observed that all people were busy with their mobile phones (playing games, messaging, reading etc.) and there were 2 people arguing with each other. It was surprise to me that no one was caring (not even any kind of facial expression).

On the other hand, a man, who was standing close to me, blew his nose loudly and again to my surprise people were feeling awkward with strange facial expression!

Then I asked my friend about it and came to know that blowing nose is considered as rude in Japan. Guys be careful…
