  • Real Japanese Food!

I love Japanese food here in the UK, and cant wait to go to the games to try real Japanese food! :-)

Why wait for the games, if you can go before then,go! The food experience in Japan is amazing. Even the Macdonald's menu and service is great. My favorite Japanese food is shabu shabu, its cooking our own vegetables and meat on a table cooker while chatting and drinking with friends makes for a wonderful dining experience

Kmoss I cant stand shabu-shabu, it takes a couple of hours to finish the meal and you gotta cook it yourself

My favourite shabu shabu restaurant is called` ONYASAI 温野菜‘
You can choose 2 kinds of shabu shabu soup. Especially, I like Hinabe火鍋(Spicy hot pot) and Tonyu豆乳 soup(Soy milk soup).
Hinabe is spicy and tonyu is mild, the combination is incredible.
I have to say one more thing, you shouldn`t miss noodles as SHIME(End of the meal).
The soup absorbed all juicy meats and vegetables extracts. So you must not waste it.

I have to say, there is a huge difference between eating Japanese food in the UK and eating it in Japan. Unless you go to a really nice restaurant, probably one in London, the food isn't quite the same. For example, before I went to Japan I liked Yo! Sushi. Now, I think it's not that good. Even the cheapest conveyor belt sushi place in Japan is better (and less expensive, if you discount the flight to get there!)

Well there are quite a number of "Japanese Restaurants" here in our country. Unfortunately, even after trying some of them although they were delicious I can't really make a comparison between Japanese Food here in our country and authentic Japanese Food in Japan. If given the chance I would love to try the original ones in Japan and compare them with the ones that I had tried here. Of course, I bet that the original would taste waaaaay better. I really want to try eating authentic Japanese sushi. The sushi I had were nice but I just can't make a comparison ~__~

I have always loved their tonkatsu.
That's what I order when I go to a Japanese restaurant.

There's nothing like a good tonkatsu, minervasirius!
It's interesting to see which Japanese food generally makes it onto restaurant menus overseas. Tonkatsu is something that's pretty easy to prepare in a lot of countries, but it's much harder with dishes that have more specific ingredients. But the dishes are also usually ones that seem impressive and look pretty, which is probably why I can't really find any good donburi (rice bowls)
There are some things that I find a bit strange as well; I see black sesame ice-cream a lot in the UK, but not as much in Japan. I can't even think of many desserts that I've had in restaurants in Japan - some don't even offer it (mainly specialty places?). I have eaten a lot of sweets in Japan though XD

I also love the one where you cook your own meat. Another is wherein you steam the meat on top which has a strainer, and below it the vegetables will receive the meat's juices.
