  • Tokyo Accommodations: Is it even worth it?

I get that Tokyo is congested and since it is a famous city, everything about it is extra expensive.

But don't you think their spaces on both Hotels and Airbnbs are too far apart in comparison to other prefectures even with go-to areas like Osaka and Kyoto?

Not to mention, they even lack some of the amenities that you can get on other areas: like bath tub, shared spaces etc.

In general, I find Tokyo a bit overpriced. They do compensate with some facial products like facial cleansers, facial toners and moisturisers in sachets in your hotel rooms but in airbnbs you just get your normal shampoo, conditioner and soaps.

Don't you think that it's not worth it?

I think that if you're going to Tokyo to visit places and just go back to the hotels to rest for the night, it's fine to have just the basic amenities because you'll be on your feet the entire day anyway. They have probably done market research on what's most important for travellers and what things or services they'd want to take advantage of elsewhere than just in their hotels or Airbnb's like they'd probably just want to go to an onsen if they want to bathe to also be able to try a very Japanese experience. And Tokyo maybe overpriced because the cost of living and maintenance fees for the owners of these establishments are also way higher than other places so they need to keep up with it. I think in other countries it's also the same. Hotels and resorts in more urban areas tend to be more expensive, too. People won't really have much of a choice with regards to prices because all they really want is the convenience of it being close to everything they want to go to.
