  • where to go for Mountaineering in japan

70% of this country, in fact- is mountains

Hiking Japan is one of the hiking world’s best-kept secrets. Wherever you hike, you probably won’t be alone: the Japanese are very keen hikers.

These are some of the recommended places to go for hiking in Japan:
    1. Daisetsuzan National Park (Hokkaidō)

    2. Kamikōchi (Nagano-ken)

    3. Fuji-san (Shizuoka-ken) ( yes ... "the" fuji-san is the most famous for mountaineering! )

    4. Yakushima (Kagoshima-ken)

    5. Aso-san (Kumamoto-ken)

Yes, the Japanese love to hike on mountains and they even bring their kids along with them. This is one of the things on my "Must Do List" when I visit Japan. I'm not that confident in my stamina but I am really excited in hiking some famous mountains in Japan (Mount Fuji, I'm looking at you!). Of course I know that I can't challenge the big guy unless i conquer the smaller guys first. I even checked this website to see which mountains I should start first and their difficulty rating.

I think it's also a good idea to find some friends who love to hike, especially those who make hiking one of their hobbies. They can teach you a lot of things about hiking mountains and the trails that you need to remember. I just hope that when I do get the chance to go to Mount Fuji, it would be a clear and sunny day so I will be able to see a scenic view from the peak of the mountain!

      Wow!

I don't about others, but if I will be going to Japan, than I am certainly going to climb Mt Fuji! By the pictures, I have seen till now, it seems one of the most beautiful mountain in the world. Rather, due to being a volcano, it has a perfect symmetry. That gives it a stunning look.

I have heard the best season to climb is July / August. But that's the most crowded time for the mountain, too. Does anyone has experienced climbing Mt Fuji in this season?
