  • Way Higher than HIGH DEF

"In its proposal for hosting the Olympic Games, Tokyo pitched a Super Hi-Vision broadcast, otherwise known as 8K Ultra HD. Broadcast television has always been developed in parallel with the Olympic Games, allowing countries to showcase the spectacle in higher definition every year. With the Games fast approaching, Japan has sped up its timeline with Sony to develop 8K Ultra HD, which will show images of 33 million pixels, 16x the resolution of today’s HD. Watching the Games at home will be almost as good as in person in 2020."

With this kind of resolution, it will be as good as if you are in there iin person itself!
Japan is really pulling out all the stops for this event.

Watching things in "High Def" is always a good thing. Sometimes I can't be bothered to watch things that are too blurry or doesn't have high quality images. I do hope that they will create a big outdoor TV screen that will only show the olympics so that people passing in the area will be able to see the games LIVE. As for other things, I wonder how many cameras they are going to use to broadcast the entire event. I'm pretty sure that games will be done simultaneously and it will require a lot of manpower to cover each and every event on a daily basis. As for me, as long as I can watch exciting games and performances I'm always ready for HD
